How long will it take me to lose 30-40 pounds? And what kind of exercises can I do?

I am 5′4 and 160 pounds. I’d like to lose 30 to 40 pounds. Yes, I know, cut the junk food and eat smaller parts of healthy food. But what about exercises? Should I every day at my gym? every other day? What kind of exercises should I do to lose the fastest? And how long will it take me, how many months?? PLEASE HELP!
